What’s art got to do with it? Expanding the role of artists in society
New York based Creative Time is one of the most important non-profit organisations engaged in public art, supporting the production of innovative, site-specific, socially engaged artistic projects. Creative Time believes that public spaces are places for creative and free expression for artists who are critical thinkers of the community and are capable of analysing social and political issues and presenting valuable solutions to them through means of artistic expression.
Laura Raicovich, as the director of Global Initiatives at Creative Time is responsible for Creative Time Reports, the Creative Time Summit and Global Residencies, programs that aim at expanding and deepening the organisation’s international work. In her Budapest open talk, by sharing her experiences from these projects, she will discuss the importance of expanding artists’ roles society and the kinds of structures that enable sharing their perspectives with broad audiences.
The lecture will be held in English.
