Hubert CzerepokResidency FinissageDate: 28 August (Friday) 2015, 7 pm Venue: Kecske Street Residency (1034 Budapest, Kecske u. 23.) Hubert Czerepok has been resident artist of ACAX Goat Street Residency during the summer of 2015 with the support of the Visegrad Fund. As his residency is about to reach its end, we are warmly welcoming all to join on August 28 to a „residency finissage” where the artist will present his most recent works done in Budapest (and still in progress) in the frame of a one-night exhibition and informal gathering.
„We are observing progress regarding the social commitment to the values of the European Union all over the continent but at the same time we may witness a growing concern of the people sharing quite reverse feelings that feeds up right-wing movements with rising popularity. Since I came to Hungary for a residency I realized that the situation is much more complex and delicate than I had thought before. I've examined local contexts, social relations and cultural diversity in order to investigate the genesis and the development of forces which one can call streams of violence.” Hubert Czerepok was born in Slubice (Poland) 1973. Graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan in 1999. In years 2002-2003 attended the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht in Netherlands and in 2004-2005 the Higher Institute for Fine Arts Flanders in Antwerpen in Belgium. Participated in various group shows in Poland and abroad including solo exhibitions “Devil’s Island” at the La Criée Centre for Contemporary Art in Rennes in France and “Haunebu” at the Zak | Branicka Gallery in Berlin, Germany. He is the Professor at the the Painting and Multimedia Department in the Academy of Arts in Szczecin, Poland. Currently is living and working in Wroclaw.
