"Project of the Year": The Leopold Bloom Art Award

winner of the Summa Artium Award in the Project Category

We are proud to announce that the Leopold Bloom Art Award is the winner of the 2011 Summa Artium Award in the Project Category. The Leopold Bloom Art Award was founded in 2011 in co-operation between the Ludwig Museum | ACAX and the Irish Maurice Ward Group with the aim of supporting progressive contemporary visual artists in Hungary and their presence in the international art scene.  

The Summa Artium Award was announced on 24 November 2011 in the frame of the Maecenas Day Gala and Auction in Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle, Budapest.


Gabriella Csoszó is participating in the ISCP residency program between September – December 2011 organized in collaboration between ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange and International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP, New York).

Gabriella’s most recent photo series, which has been taken during the residency program, deals with the Occupy Wall Street movement. The photo series can be viewed here.

The 12th Istanbul Biennial - Untitled (12th Istanbul Biennial), 2011

Hungarian participants: Dóra Maurer and Tamás Kaszás - Anikó Loránt

ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange is glad to announce that – just as two years ago – two Hungarian participants have been invited to the 12th Istanbul Biennial. Among others the works of Dóra Maurer and Tamás KaszásAnikó Loránt are on display between 17 September – 13 November 2011 at the venue of the Biennial.

The curators of the Biennial, Jens Hoffmann and Adriano Pedrosa were invited to Budapest for a curatorial research trip in the frame of ACAX’s Check-in Budapest curatorial visitor program in January 2010. Following their visit, they invited the artists to participate in the Biennial. The Hungarian contribution is supported by ACAX, department of Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art, Budapest.
